Humidity Control

Preserve the lifetime of your investment.

It can be difficult to sustain a consistent temperature and humidity in the room where you keep your piano. Exposure to heating or air conditioning vents, direct sunlight, and other elemental conditions can alter the state of your piano, swelling or shrinking your soundboard, stretching strings, or damaging tuning pins or glue joints. As a rule, pianos perform best at a temperature of 68°F and at 42% relative humidity (RH), the amount of moisture found in the air.

Interested in preserving your instrument by installing appropriate piano humidity control in your instrument, home, church, school, or other space? Whether using a hygrometer to monitor RH changes, room humidifier to add moisture to a room, or three-part humidity control system (humidifier, dehumidifier, and humidistat) in the piano itself, Bangert’s Piano Service can recommend, install, and maintain the best option for your piano and budget.

Robert Bangert is certified as a Field Expert in the installation of humidity control products by the Dampp-Chaser corporation, the leading manufacturer of humidity control systems for pianos. These choices will enable you to elongate the life of your piano and its parts, helping you to experience optimal playing and pitch for years to come.
